Northern Lights School Division No.113 is a provincial school system serving a predominantly Indigenous school population throughout an area encompassing the entire northern half of Saskatchewan. The schools are very diverse ranging from 10 to over 500 students per school, and catering to Cree, Dene, Métis, French, and English cultures and languages.


NLSD provides a full range of pre-kindergarten to Grade Twelve programs to more than 4300 students in 21 schools. We have offices located in the beautiful communities of La Ronge and Beauval, both approximately 400 kilometers north of Saskatoon.

 

The division is progressively piloting programs unique to Canada, staying on the cutting edge of technology, and integrating the varied cultural aspects of the communities into the classrooms.

 

Location:  Dene High School

Start Date: August 27, 2024

FTE: Full-time

Term of Employment: Temporary - to June 12, 2025

Salary and Benefits:  According to education and experience.

Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 preferred but not mandatory
  • The ability to speak the Dene language would be considered and asset
  • Positive and patient approach
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Cross-cultural experience
  • Good communication skills

The suitable candidates will be able to perform the following duties:

  • Assist students to be in class on time and to remain in class for the full period. 
  • Address disruptive student behaviours & speak with students in a supportive way.
  • Accompany students to time out space, de-escalation space, administration office, etc.
  • Debrief with student support workers, social workers and administration daily.  
  • Keep accurate records and daily log of activities.
