KidsFirst is a voluntary program that supports families with children prenatal to age 3. The program is delivered using a curriculum that enhances parenting knowledge, builds on family strengths, and provides support. The program is a combination of home visiting services, referrals to other agencies, assisting with access to early learning and childcare opportunities, and encouraging the development of family support systems. It is culturally relevant, child centered, family-focused, and strength-based.

Salary and Benefits:  According to education and experience.

Qualifications:

  • Early Childhood Education (Levels 1, 2, or 3); or LPN, Health Birth Educator or Degree in a related field.  Equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.
  • Knowledge in early childhood development, family dynamics, and prevention strategies.
  • Must possess effective communication skills (both oral and written) as well as strong problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as a team member.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, have access to a reliable vehicle, and obtain a $2,000,000.00 liability insurance policy.
  • The ability to travel on occasion may be required for the position.

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:

  • Identify, recruit & support prenatal or new postnatal women to enroll & participate in the KFN program.
  • Establish and maintain a warm, trusting, and nurturing relationship consistently to ensure continuity for pregnant and postnatal women.
  • Enhance family function by building a trusting and supportive relationship with prenatal & postnatal families.
  • Facilitate the delivery of the prenatal curriculum with activities that empower families and their relationships/interactions.
  • Promote, educate, and create awareness in the community about prenatal education & health care resources and create links and supports for prenatal women including prenatal classes in partnership with local healthcare providers.
